Emily Chu is an illustrator and designer living and working in Edmonton, Alberta. Her work merges commercial illustration with textures and pattern design. Emily's illustrations are often decorative, playful, light hearted, and can be found in magazines, murals, comics, products, branding, and textiles. Her clients include Avenue Magazine, Eighteen Bridges, Apple Magazine, and Glass Buffalo Magazine to name a few. When not illustrating, Emily enjoys drawing in her sketchbook, participating as a vendor at markets, and teaching at the Edmonton Digital Arts College.
Building a Union: The Creation of the CSAA
Andrew Benson is an illustrator, designer and printmaker who likes comics, photocopiers, wiggly lines, punk rock, zines and scribbled type. His work is often centered around the absurd, the grotesque, the supernatural and making himself giggle. He currently runs Hazel, a brand and identity design studio in Edmonton. He is also a frequent contributor, board member and instructor for SNAP and the northern Alberta chapter of the Graphic Designers of Canada.
When she realized her dream of becoming a frog would not be achieved, Catherine turned her attention to the graphic arts and has not looked back. Catherine graduated from Pixel Blue College in 2015 with a diploma in 2D Animation and Illustration. After being awarded a scholarship at the Gotta Minute Film Festival, she returned to school to complete a diploma in Digital Illustration and Sequential Arts at the Edmonton Digital Arts College in 2017. Catherine was the Artist-in-Residence at Happy Harbor Comics from May 2017 to January 2018. She now works as a freelance animator and illustrator.
Olivia Smreciu is an Alberta illustrator and a recent graduate of the Digital Illustration and Sequential Art program at Edmonton Digital Arts College. In 2018 she had a successful Kickstarter campaign for her graphic retelling of the First Nations legend Raven Steals the Light. Olivia has traveled extensively and continues to incorporate these experiences into her work. When she isn’t continually using CTRL+Z at her tablet, she enjoys watching horror movies with her cat. Olivia currently works and lives in Edmonton.

Amanda Schutz is an illustrator and artist from Edmonton, Alberta. She grew up with a love for drawing and followed that passion to MacEwan University, where she graduated from the Design and Illustration program. Amanda’s illustrations have been in campaigns, magazines, children’s books, and exhibitions across Canada and the US. In addition to illustration, Amanda works as a graphic designer at Curio Studio, where she is the creative director and owner. Amanda is the past president of the Graphic Designers of Canada, Alberta North Chapter and now focused on a new design advocacy project called Canadian Women in Design. Last but definitely not least, she she is a mother to Jacob Jasper, who makes frequent appearances in her illustration work.
